P-Plate licence suspension quashed. Client keeps his licence.
Our client had recently completed a lengthy licence disqualification which he received after being caught driving with a suspended and disqualified licence on more than one occasion. Although he had a very poor driving record, he had decided that he needed to change his attitude and had successfully completed the licence disqualification without incident.
Our client had recently applied for a new provisional licence, which he was granted, but had recently been caught speeding – an offence as a provisional driver which would lead to another 3 month licence suspension.
A further loss of licence would severely limit our client’s employment prospects and as a result of new commitments he had made, including starting a family and entering into a mortgage, he was very concerned.
We provided excellent character references to the Court and made detailed submissions about the changes our client had made in his life and his need for a licence. Initially, the Court was unwilling to quash our client’s suspension because of his poor traffic record, but after persevering, we were able to convince Her Honour and the suspension was quashed.
